The Punjab government has recently announced the distribution of free solar systems to 50,000 households throughout the province. This initiative is taken under the leadership of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz. This “Chief Minister Roshan Gharana” program is for households with less than 200 units of electricity. In this regard, the provincial government has completed the process to offer free solar panels to the general public.
Households that use up to 200 units of electricity per month will be eligible for free solar systems. The government will bear all costs, including the cost of the solar systems with their installation. The project will cost 10 billion rupees.
Who are the Eligible
This program benefits middle families and eliminates their electricity billing burden.
This “ Roshan Gharana” program is for the people of Punjab, and they must be citizens of Pakistan.
The program will not be available for people involved in unlawful actions such as meter tampering or electricity theft.
A valid Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) is a requirement.
Solar panel installation requires either ownership of the property or permission from the owner.
Families using up to 200 units monthly will have their data forwarded to the National Telecommunication. After verification, the NTC will forward the information to the Punjab Information Technology Board.
How to register
The registration process is so straightforward. After some steps, you will receive a confirmation message stating you are eligible.
Families that meet the requirements can sign up for the program by SMS. They must email their CNIC and bill reference number to 8800.
After verification, you will receive an update from Govt. body.
Another way is that the relevant government body in charge of the program will provide the website URL for citizens to apply. To apply for the program, candidates must meet the criteria.
